Open meets are a great way to make extra money for your club but can mean a reduction in block bookings – how can you get around this?

The key to making up for this is to allow individual entries to your open meets. This can, for instance, be people trying to get county or regional qualification times who use your open meet to achieve ratified times.

For example, one of our partners Kingston Royals runs three open meets a year with individual entries allowed and has been doing so for several years. They’ve found that it has made extra income and has helped build the club’s reputation which in turn has attracted new members – quite a good return for the work needed to run open meets.

But isn’t it lots of extra admin to process individual entries?

It can be if you’re processing them manually one by one, but that’s where OrderWhizz helps. For their Autumn meet, Kingston Royals used OrderWhizz to capture nearly £1,000 of individual entry fees from an additional 115 race entries. This was all completed on OrderWhizz with no additional admin time needed from volunteers or staff; simply one field to be set up on their existing admin platform for entrants to complete their entry info and pay.

Entries are then part of the overall race meet information and processed as such for easy admin on the day of the event. The individual entries filled up the meet and ensured empty lanes from late withdrawals were kept to a minimum.
